CoCo壱番屋 ! The King Of Japanese Curry!

Not long ago, Me myself, Leon, Ben, Angie & Fenny met up and followed Calvin down to a newly opened CoCo Ichibanya at 313@Somerset to get a taste some really awesome japanese curry rice!
CoCo壱番屋(CoCo Ichibanya) is a popular Japanese curry house which has more than 1275 outlets all over the world, and this very outlet at 313@Somerset is actually it's very first outlet in singapore!

Why CoCo Ichibanya?
The unique point of this restaurant is that you can actually customize your order to your own liking!

You will get to choose the amount of rice ranging from 150g to 550g (standard 250g).
You have seven different levels of spiciness to choose from.
You can also choose to add different toppings on top of your order!

Can't wait to see what's in the menu?
First We gotta work! See the guys being serious while taking some photos of the awesome food!

First up! Fried Chicken Curry with Vegetable!
Feeling hungry just by looking at it? Well, you should!
A satisfying meal with a nice combination of chicken and a variety of veggies to go with your curry rice.

Next up! Pork Cutlet Curry With Cheese!
Delicious pork cutlet dipped in a generous portion of curry and cheese. Simply awesome, a must try for everyone!

next up! Hashed Beef With Mushroom!Well... I love mushrooms!
This has and very unique sourish taste and it's very appetizing, it kind of reminded me of sardines.

Here we have the Creamed Mushroom Omelet Curry!
The Amount of rice and spiciness of the curry is not customizable for this dish but don't worry this dish is awesome!

Here's a Photo before you start wondering where is the rice!
Yes! the rice is wrapped in a nice layer of egg and drowned in curry and topped with mushroom and cream! Makes me feel hungry just by typing this!

Well! The curry was so awesome that we(Ben, Calvin & I) actually went down on again on a separate occasion to have it!

This time round we decided to try other dishes they had to offer.

Calvin ordered this Sliced Pork With Kimchee.
a very unique Korean-Japanese Fusion.
Well, they say KimChi is an acquired taste, Kimchi lovers should try this!

I'm not really a fan of beef but i still daringly went for the Thin-Sliced Boiled Beef Curry. A nice and simple dish with thinly sliced beef which was nicely done and it wasn't tough to chew at all. Beef to go with the curry and rice, awesome isn't it?! This is one of the few beef dishes that i enjoy.

Well, apart from all the good food, their service was awesome too! The staff there are very polite and our glasses are constantly refilled with the waiter always looking out for the customers and spicy faces.

Also, If you do intend to head down and give it a try, do expect a queue there.
Food is awesome and they do offer good customer service, definitely worth the time queuing up for!

Get Your Sexy Back!

Two months back I saw this two drunk youths sleeping under my block, it was 5am in the morning and people were heading out for work and the two youths actually attracted some attention, negative attention that is.

Ever got really drunk and passed out on the streets, fell down a drain or vomited all over yourself or on people around you? If yes, then it's time for you to start gaining control over your alcohol intake and get your sexy back!

We attended the GYSB launch party on the 21st of September. GYSB Meaning
Get your Sexy Back is a Campaign which is supported by the Asia Pacific Breweries targeted at youths to promote responsible drinking. Now into its fourth year, the anti-binge drinking message is centered on the concept of ‘taking control’ and the campaign taps on the need for social acceptance among youth to steer home the message.
According to MOH, binge drinking is defined as the consumption of five or more alcoholic drinks for males, or four or more alcoholic drinks for females, in any one drinking session.

GYSB had posters of drunken youth in various poses put up around Singapore, each having a QR code like this one.

From personal experience, one of the most often causes are peer pressure, Apart from just saying no, we can also share this with them and encourage them to be a part of the campaign and start drinking responsibly. This is a really meaningful campaign so do check out their page http://www.gysb.sg and share it with your friends!

Re-using Silica Gel

This is what you do *or at least what i did* when your silica gel loses it's moisture sucking power! basically when your silica gel turn from dark blue to a pale purplish colour.

First you spread it out evenly it out on a plate.

Put it in the microwave. i set it to 1min but i think it should be longer,i'll tell you why later.
When it's done, remember to use a glove cause it's gonna be hot, there would be a nasty smell when it's done so don't breathe that in.

The silica gel should be this colour when it's done!

Basically by doing this, you're evaporating the moisture that locked inside the silica gel, kind of like squeezing a wet sponge. I placed the hot silica gel in an air tight container with a hygrometer and noticed that it's releasing moisture, this is probably why it should be in the microwave oven for a longer time. Let it cool for awhile then store it in your container or dry boxes. Good luck!
